The objectives of the day are to:

  • Learn from disabled people about their mixed experiences of the church.
  • Hear about some local initiatives that reach out into communities.
  • Discuss and reflect with others about how we can bring about change.
  • Go away with ideas for action.
  • Help make church communities places where barriers are broken, all people valued and where everyone belongs.

Keynote Speaker:
Rev Professor John Swinton

Rev. Professor John Swinton is Director of the Centre for Spirituality, Health and Disability at the University of Aberdeen. John is internationally known for his research and work with disabled people particularly those with learning disabilities or mental health problems.

With contributions from writers of ‘In our Own Words, Experiences of Disability’ published by the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.
